Bruce Dickinson — If Eternity Should Fail (Demo)

This demo was originally recorded as a solo song by Bruce Dickinson, produced in 2014 in Roy Z's living room. This song would be re-recorded for Iron Maiden on the album The Book of Souls  (2015). As can hear in the demo, the beginning with the keyboards and vocal lines are technically the same as those used in the Iron Maiden version. This version is found exclusively on the 7" vinyl version of the single Afterglow of Ragnarok (2023) from the album The Mandrake Project (2024). Note: BMG claimed the video I uploaded to YouTube and they deleted it. So I'll upload the video here. — Listen: — Lyrics: Here is the soul of a man Here in this place for the taking Clothed in white, stand in the light Here is the soul of a man Time to speak with the shaman again Conjure the jester again Black dog in the ruins is howling my name So here is the soul of a man When the world was virgin Before the coming of man Just a solar witness The beginning of the end From a world of magma To ...

10. Iron Maiden - Total Eclipse (A-Side)

Total Eclipse  is a song that had been recorded in the sessions for the album The Number of the Beast (1982) and that first appeared on the single Run to the Hills as a b-side. When the band recorded the 9 songs on the album, one of them had to be left out. For the release of the single Run to the Hills , they were between 2 songs to use as a b-side: Gangland and Total Eclipse . They finally chose to use the latter. Steve Harris has stated that he regrets leaving this song out, despite the fact that he feels that the lyrics of said song did not fit the theme of the album (and without necessarily being a concept album). For some reason, it doesn't appear in Best of the B'Sides in Eddie's Archive (2002). Most likely, this song had already been played live before, and that's why it was already known. The song was performed live on tour for The Number of the Beast album in 1982, and appears on the live album Beast over Hammersmith of the Eddie's Archive (2002). ...

Black Sabbath - Wings of Thunder / No Time to Die (Lost Media)

Wings of Thunder and No Time to Die are 2 titles of the same song that was recorded in the Tyr (1990) album sessions but has not been released. The first mention of this song was made by Tony Martin in 2004 on his official site, where he mentioned songs from his next album Scream (2005), and that 2 songs would use drum tracks by Cozy Powell, also adding that these songs were composed at the time of Black Sabbath : "The two tracks that I have put on the album are called Raising Hell and Wings of Thunder . They originate from the SABBATH days and I did play the demos to him when we were doin' (COZY POWELLS) HAMMER , he thought they were really good. They are very much Cozy -type tracks and it's taken me AGES!! I was determined to get it right! I'm very pleased with the way they turned out. If the tracks prove successfull I'll do a complete album of new songs with his drum tracks." Although the song Raising Hell appeared on the album, there was no trace of ...

#7. Helloween - Into the Sun (Outtake/Unreleased/Lost Media)

Into the Sun is a song that was recorded in the Helloween (2021) album sessions but was left out. The existence of this song is mentioned thanks to Michael Kiske. In an interview he gave for Eonmusic in June 2021 he said the following: "I still think we could have used the ballad, and we had one, or we have one. Andi has written a great, great ballad. The way they produced it, during the production they changed it so much that in the end he didn’t like it anymore. They changed the key to a lower key, they used a different kind of instrumentation with a piano and stuff like that. I liked it, but the producers and himself, they were just not so happy with it, so they want to come back next time to the original version and do it the way it was in the beginning. That’s the only thing I think the album could use; not killing any songs, just put that extra ballad on there." Going on to praise Deris's songwriting ability, and also to mention the name of the song, he concluded;...

#6. Black Sabbath - Slapback (Demo/Outtake)

Slapback is a previously unreleased song recorded in 1979 in pre-production rehearsals for the album Heaven and Hell (1980). It was leaked on March 5, 2021 by Gary Rees, stepson of keyboardist Geoff Nicholls, who found it on a cassette along with other recording tapes of the album's compositions in 1979. Geezer Butler first confirmed the leak of this song, also assuring that it was he who played the bass. Asked in an interview with SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" on Monday (March 8) if he knew anything about this purportedly unreleased tune, Butler said: "Yeah, that was one of the songs that we did before I left," referring to the fact that he exited SABBATH for a short time during the "Heaven And Hell" sessions while he was dealing with some personal issues. "It's probably the reason I did leave. [Laughs] It was just one of those songs that didn't make the grade." Asked if he in fact played bass on the recording th...
